Quality and innovation have been the driving force behind Gledhill from the start, when brothers Norman and Joe Gledhill manufactured domestic copper cylinders in Blackpool.
As the business grew, so did our reputation and expertise, and the Gledhill name became synonymous with a tireless commitment to doing things better. We’ve been an industry leader from the start, thanks to our constant focus on the latest production technology.
Key moments in our history
- In 1926, Norman and Joe Gledhill saw a demand for high-quality domestic copper cylinders and began to manufacture in Blackpool.
- In 1965 we were the first to use foam insulation.
- Two years later, we launched the first all-weld lightweight cylinders, made using revolutionary techniques.
- In 1973 we again led the way with our state-of-the-art manufacturing centre in Blackpool – and by 2000 we had a production and delivery network spanning the length and breadth of the UK.
