Pumping Out Energy And Cost Saving Benefits For Homes

Gledhill Water Storage has developed new software that enables it to modulate standard pumps on its range of A-class appliances and very significantly reduce the energy consumed by an average household pump. Gledhill A-class Appliance

As part of its range of energy efficient storage vessels and boilers, modulating pumps can be specified on all Gledhill A-class appliances, saving considerable amounts of energy and reducing noise pollution in the home.

Pumps use a huge percentage of the globe’s energy output with the industry claiming that 20% of the world’s energy is consumed by pumps.

Variable speed pumps are now available from a number of major pump manufacturers, but Gledhill is offering a dramatic cost-saving alternative. Modulating pumps on appliances avoids the trouble and cost of having to install new pumps as no on-site commissioning is required.

Gledhill primary storage appliances incorporate accurate sensors which measure changes in temperature, rather than pressure. The new software in the microprocessor then assesses the difference in temperature and slows the pump accordingly, thereby making considerable energy savings and reducing noise pollution.

Gledhill Chairman, Houghton Gledhill, said: “Innovation drives our business and this latest software reflects our commitment to energy efficiency. Variable speed pumps are possibly the most significant development in the sector for many years, and not only are we utilising this new technology, but we have gone one step further.

“By modulating standard pumps we are providing a more cost-effective and easier way to integrate this considerable energy saving method into homes – hopefully contributing to the reduction of energy output in the UK as a whole.”
