Stainless Steel Cylinders

Stainless Steel CoilOur stainless steel range was the first to be manufactured from Duplex stainless steel that established new standards for quality, performance and life expectancy for both unvented and vented cylinders.

A full range is offered that meets both New Build 2010 Part L1A Building Regulations and Replacement cylinder 2010 Part L1B Building Regulations.

Please see our Alternative Energy section for a range of stainless steel cylinders such as the Stainless Lite Solar, Stainless Lite Heat Pump and Stainless Lite Triple Coil that can be used with a wood burning stove or other uncontrolled heat source.

All our stainless steel range is made from the very latest high specification grade of Duplex stainless steel, to resist all forms of corrosion, including crevice and stress, whilst its high mechanical strength gives it fantastic durability. The very latest automated welding procedures along with full post weld treatments guarantee welds that are as strong as the parent metal. Stainless Lite unvented is pressure tested in the factory to a full 12 bar which is four times the normal working pressure.

We were the first to use a high heat transfer corrugated tube heat exchanger to give a 20% faster recovery than plain tube.

The Slimline Option

Where customers are restricted with the space available, but want the benefits of an unvented stainless steel cylinder, the Stainless Lite Slimline provides you with the perfect solution. These are available in Direct and Indirect configurations, and both come with solar options.

Maximising the hot water potential

The unique Gledhill diffuser used in our unvented range of stainless steel cylinders reduces turbulence when cold water enters the store by baffling the flow. The end result is that the hot water output is equal to the capacity of the cylinder. A 180 litre unvented vessel will produce 180 litres of hot water! Check out the competition as some hot water cylinders are significantly better than others! The practical benefit is that the space taken up by the cylinder is all dedicated to hot water storage and so a smaller cylinder can be chosen compared with other manufacturers products.

Heat loss

All Gledhill stainless steel cylinders incorporate the very latest HCFC-free EnviroFoam insulation. This has an Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) of zero and an industry leading Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 0.7. Tests show that the EnviroFoam insulation injected into the case and covering both domes achieves astonishingly low levels of heat loss, which ensures it is fully compliant with 2010 Part L requirements for both new build and replacement cylinders.

Stainless Steel WeldingQuality guaranteed

Our stainless steel cylinders come with up to a 25 year guarantee underlining the usual Gledhill confidence in its own products. We regularly have copper cylinders returned to us that we made more than 40 years ago – why should anyone expect less from stainless steel?

All our stainless steel cylinders (including vented) are manufactured in accordance with BS EN 12897 the specification for unvented water storage vessels. The cylinders have been tested by KIWA, a member of the European Organisation for Technical Approvals (EOTA), and found to comply with Building Regulations G3, 2010 Part L1A or L1B, and Water Regulations.

Gledhill also operates a quality management system audited and accepted by the BSI in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001:2008.
