Gledhill’s cylinder range is ErP ready

The entire team at Gledhill has declared itself ready for Tier 2, the next phase of ErP, the EU directive affecting space and water heaters, which comes into force on 26th September.

The Research & Development and Quality Assurance teams, have been re-designing and testing products well in advance to ensure they meet the Tier 2 requirements of the directive, while the technical staff are fully trained on how they can help installers comply.

The majority of Gledhill’s cylinder ranges, designed in-house by its technical team in Blackpool, have been fully compliant for some time, with StainlessLite indirect cylinders up to 210 litres rated B and all others now no lower than a C rating.

Gledhill’s most popular cylinder range, the StainlessLite was revamped and launched in May and includes the StainlessLite Plus range developed specifically for domestic and light commercial installers, the StainlessLite Pro for contractors and the StainlessLite Pre-Plumbed, designed to provide a plug and play solution specifically for the new build market.

The new design features a wider flat base for increased stability and a flat top, which allows for 20 per cent more insulation. This improved ErP ratings for StainlessLite models across the range.

Development Manager, Nick Fursman has led the development process and final preparations in the countdown to the 26th September.  “We have made a huge team effort to ensure our cylinder ranges are fully ErP compliant well in advance of the deadline,” says Nick.  “By making some simple design changes we have been able to remove any heat loss weaknesses and increase the amount of insulation and this has enabled us to improve the ErP ratings.  However, this is a constant process and we will continue to test our products and look at ways to make even more improvements.”

Gledhill’s range of thermal stores are also fully ErP compliant with energy efficient pumps, sophisticated PCB software and flow sensor technology significantly reducing the response time of the delivery of hot water by up to 75%.
